This week we evaluated FIPPA and Creative Commons then evaluated different parts of Creative Commons in smaller groups. My group looked at fair dealings a provision in the copy right act that allows people to use a small portion (usually equivalent to 10%) of a copyright-protected work without permission for the purposes of research, private study, criticism, review, news reporting, education, satire, and parody. Fair Dealings helps teachers access information from more authors without having to purchase their works and therefore helps to spread information. Other groups evaluated the public domain, creative commons, open educational resources, and reusable multimedia.
